Middlesex 29-17 Surrey – Sunday the 6th of March
Surrey started the game positively and took an early 2 try lead. However, Middlesex refused to let this discourage them with the forwards taking the initiative to get back into the game with powerful rucks and scrums. Meanwhile, the teamwork quickly improved whereby our efforts were rewarded after our lock Ethan successfully created space and offloaded to James on the wing who accelerated to score our first try. It was a very competitive first half finishing at 17-14 to Surrey.
The second half started strongly for Middlesex largely due to the backs’ impressive handling. We started to increase our aggression and therefore gained ground more frequently especially seen through our Eight Liam and our flanker Dlair. Surrey put up an enormous fight for the rest of the match and we are greatly thankful for such a competitive game. The final score was 29-17 to Middlesex which was assisted by 2 successful conversions from our fly half Kai.
Firstly, I’d like to thank my teammates for such a professional performance and look forward to our future matches. A special thanks to our coaches and physio for setting up the fixture and for their guidance and advice. On behalf of the team, we’d like to say thank you to the referee, parents, family, and friends who came along to support us today. Lastly, from the kit cleaners to the caterers and everyone in between we would like to express our gratitude for their hospitality.
