Position: Head Coach Old Merchant Taylors’ Football Club
Commitment: Part-time
Job Start Date: June 2021
Role Outline
The Head Coach would be a member of the OMTFC Committee and is responsible for the overall playing structure of the 1st XV. The post-holder’s primary responsibility is to ensure the oversight of all playing related matters, whilst working alongside the Committee members in their respective areas of focus (when needed).
Key Objectives
- Create and execute the strategy for OMTFC over the next 3-5 years
- Actively engage with the entire OMT community to develop the level and quality of rugby at OMTFC, above and beyond 1st XV rugby
- Report regularly to the Club Committee on progress and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Player / Team
- Contract allocation and discussions with select players
- Organisation and employment of coaching staff, including physios
- Assist and direct recruitment strategy
- Support in the organisation of match-day logistics and set up
2. Community
- Develop links with the local community, organising additional events at the club
- Work with Merchant Taylors’ School for young player recruitment
Qualifications
Level 2 coaching badge is required as a minimum
Remuneration
A basic salary would be agreed by negotiation, which would also be linked to agreed targets where a bonus would be awarded if achieved
Candidate
- The ideal candidate would be an outgoing person who has been involved in Rugby Union for some years and has a passion for the game, has good contacts and networking skills
- Previous history working as a head coach is preferable; however, the club is more concerned with their ability to coach and add value to the club
- They must have energy and commitment to build and grow a club that has excellent facilities and potential to be much larger
- OMT is one of the oldest football clubs in the country and is steeped in history, based in Northwood in the grounds of Merchant Taylors’ School
