Old Grammarians U9s and U10s travelled to Allianz Park on Sunday to participate in their respective Champions events which took place prior to the Saracens match against Newcastle. Around 65 people players & parents boarded a coach at 8am outside the clubhouse on a gloriously sunny morning.
Both age groups reaching the semi-finals but both were knocked out by the eventual winners of each group. And despite their gruelling morning of rugby, some of the players volunteered to help raise money for the Wooden Spoon, the rugby charity which supports disadvantaged children, before the Premiership match.
“It was fantastic to see them don their hats and walk around talking to the home and away supporters explaining why they were raising money and giving information on Wooden Spoon.” said Angela Micallef. “As parents, coaches and supporters, if was great to see our children want to give a little something back to those less fortunate than themselves. We could not have been prouder of all of their efforts on the day. “
