The competition
The Middlesex Schools competition, run by the Middlesex Schools Union, attracts more than 100 teams from both established and emerging Middlesex rugby schools at U14, U15, U16 and U18 age groups.
The competition gives school teams the opportunity to compete against each other through early rounds played during the Autumn term, and culminates in finals played over three days. It comprises two tiers: The Middlesex Schools’ Plate which encourages emerging schools which are either beginning to develop their rugby curriculum or who have just returned to rugby after a hiatus and who do not play much inter-school rugby, to participate competitively, and the Middlesex Schools Cup which is contested by the more established rugby playing schools and includes an U18 level.
The competition has its own website which follows the individual schools and keeps track of the draw and results as the competition progresses through the knockout stages. It also offers a ‘Find your School’ feature and location maps.
In addition, the Schools Union runs a one day U12 Festival and a one day U13 Festival, which takes place in November and December respectively, at Staines RFC.
