Team Middlesex Senior Women
With Women’s rugby going from strength to strength and the success of the first year of the Tyrells Premiership, Middlesex Rugby plays an important part in the development of the Women’s and Girls’ game across the county.
The 2019 Middlesex Senior Women Season kicked off in January hosting trials for a record number 120 women from across the county. Showing the growth of the women’s game over the last few years and the opportunities available to women and girls to be involved in the game, especially with the number of local Tyrrells 15’s team in Middlesex which players are aspiring to play for.
This year we have seen players from 24 clubs and Universities, which provided some fierce competition for places in the final training squad of 50.
The level of competition this year has provided the coaches with some very difficult decisions and long conversation when it came to selection and with only being able to have 22 for a match day squad there will be more.
This season Team Middlesex Senior Women are playing Essex, Buckinghamshire & Hampshire in the group stages of Division 2 of the Gill Burns Cup.

Team Middlesex aims to develop players through age group representation and advanced coaching to feed the senior squad and transition from development to performance.
As part of the squad, players are exposed to a higher level of coaching, support and encouragement to enable them to fulfill their ambitions. Our philosophy is built around the values of:
HONESTY | INTEGRITY | EXCELLENCE | PROGRESSION & DEVELOPMENT | PERFORMANCE OVER OUTCOME | ENJOYMENT
The time commitment for players is carefully planned so as not to conflict with club commitments and the structured season. The players benefit from high quality coaching and mentoring, skills which they can bring back to their club.

Players are selected to represent Team Middlesex according to their performance in trials. Trial participants are assessed on seven key areas: work ethic, handling, defence, contact, running and evasion skill, decision making and overall effectiveness. We encourage those trialling to make an effort to be noticed by the coaches and other assessors by getting stuck in to the set tasks, and, most importantly, to perform as best as they can on the day.
There will be a number of training and development sessions for squad members throughout the season, as well as opportunities for any U15 or U18 player in the county to come along for development sessions:
There are also opportunities for any talented and enthusiastic female U15 or U18 player in the county to join the squad at open development sessions.
