COMMUNITY RUGBY SET TO RETURN
Posted on 3 December 2020
The Rugby Football Union (RFU) welcomes the news that Government has given its approval for 15-a-side contact rugby union to return at grassroots level, subject to adaptations.

As we move into Stage E of the Return to Community Rugby roadmap, it is now more important than ever that we ensure all clubs are complying with Government and RFU guidance.
Andy Smart and I have received a lot of questions from clubs around returning to play, changing rooms, fixtures and how it will all work now lockdown has eased and Tier 2 restrictions apply. There is a lot of RFU guidance, and I would urge you to take the time to read through it all on the England Rugby Coronavirus Resources page.
However, to simplify things we have attached:
- A checklist and guide for a club COVID Manager to ensure you have everything in place for fixtures resuming.
- The RFU clarification on off field activities – this is a simple guidance document of what we can and can’t do in each tier.
Please do reach out to Andy and myself if you are unsure of anything or have further questions.
Again, I urge you to ensure your club is in full compliance with the guidance set out. Failure to do so may mean disciplinary action but also will provide public health departments more evidence to why outdoor sport should not return – and none of us want to see rugby suspended again.
Best wishes
