Middlesex Merit Table registration for season 2022/23 is now open
Posted on 27 May 2022
Entry for the Middlesex Merit tables for season 2022/23 is now open and closes on Friday 10th of June.
Ladies and Gentlemen
First of all I hope that you and your families are well, If you are no longer the MT contact for your club please pass it onto that person and let me know so I can update my contacts list
I appreciate that it is very difficult at the moment to have any real confidence about playing numbers and teams but we need to start preparing for next season now that the leagues have been circulated for those clubs playing in the leagues and their fixtures due out in the first week of June
First of all just to confirm that Steve Partridge who runs the MT Cup/Bowl/Vase competitions for us will be taking a much more prominent role in running all the competitions from this season onwards. I intend to stay involved as much as I can but Steve will become very much the go to person as the season develops
Anyway I enclose the entry form for this year’s MMTs and also the MMT Cup/Bowl/Vase Competitions for this forthcoming season. Please note the entries have to be in by Friday 10th June which is two weeks this Friday). Based on the response we will have the provisional MTs out by Monday 13th June. We will deal with any appeals by Monday 20th June and will have all the fixtures out at the latest by Monday 27th June. If you have any specific requests about the level you feel your side(s) should be at please include that in your response. Please note that even if you have won your league or won the play-off you are not obliged to take the promotion if you think that it would be a step too far for your team although we reserve the right to promote you nevertheless
Completed entry forms to be sent please tommt@middlesexrugby.com.
We will send out any updated regulations out by Monday the 4th July
With this in mind I must ask you all when you submit your application to join the MTs for next season that you do so clearly understanding both your responsibility to honour your fixtures and confident that you will be able to do so. We will deal with each application on its merit.
Despite the issues I intend to provide the same opportunities for MT5 as before utilising the Game On Regulations, allowing teams able to arrange their own fixtures, to play who they wanted when they wanted and with as many players as they have.
Once again we committed to ensuring that the teams that have been struggling can match their own expectations against their resources and where they can clearly demonstrate that they can honour fixtures they will be returned to the regulated Merit Tables.
Just to keep everyone up to date I have already had a meeting with the other seven London MT organisers and we agreed the following
For the 2022/23 season the CB merit tables will run as normal but will play to the same timetable as the leagues. When the leagues go into the nationals cup competition from the 25th March across April and early May we will run either a cross border or pan London competition for the top teams in each of the London top merit tables to identify a London winner. That work is in progress but early days
At the same time I have committed to the FCS Implementation Team together with Craig Morgan from Essex and Tyrone Lawless that we will work to put together a pan London Competition for our top merit table teams ready for the 2023/24 season. That will happen provided there is support from our top teams in our top merit tables
The remaining clubs in the Premier MT plus MTs 1 to 5 will continue their Cup/Bowl/Vase and play-off competitions in the same at the conclusion of the league part of the competition on the 18th March
I hope that all makes sense
Any questions please come back to either Steve or myself
Finally I confirm that we have already had entry forms from Hackney and London Imperials
Keep safe and looking forward to hearing from you
Andrew Smart
