Middlesex Men vs Sussex Men match report from 14th May

Posted on 18 May 2022

Middlesex Men (21) 35 vs Sussex (7) 14

Middlesex bounced back from last week’s defeat against Berkshire to comfortably defeat Sussex at a sunny and very hot Wasps FC. They were in control from early on and went into half-time holding a 14-point lead. Joe Carolan and Tim Russell, Hammersmith and Fulham team-mates, scored a pair of tries each and a third H & F man Angus Brown added a fifth try. Joe Carolan finished with 20 points, adding five conversions to his two tries.

Sussex crossed through Will Hoare of Brighton and Charlie Knight of Hove. Charlie Spencer kicked one of the conversions and Toby Simpson added the other.

A huge thank you to the coaching team led by Mark Jackson, Cai Griffiths, Corné du Rand, Phil Smith, the team manager Stephen Harris and our Physios Kirsten and Beth. Thanks also to Grasshoppers RFC and Wasps FC for hosting our training and games.

Berkshire and Sussex will meet next week to decide which of them, or Middlesex advance.
